Fitting Around Truck Accessories
Sizing: There are six sizes of truck tents available for the
largest and most common pickup trucks on the road. To find the correct
size, you must know the length of your truck bed, measured from the inside front
to the inside rear with the tailgate
up. Many truck models have one name and two bed sizes (for example: F150 has both
6.5' and 8' bed lengths). If you cannot find a tent for your truck
listed, it usually means that it is too small to
sleep in or its dimensions are slightly different
than the standard sizes.
Tool box: Truck tents will not fit over tool boxes that extend
over the sides of the bed. Tool boxes that fit in between the sides of a truck
will work. Sometimes, a crew cab tent will fit a standard size truck with a tool
box, etc. The tent will go up right next to the
tool box. If you have a compact truck with a tool box, a tent won't
work.
Railings: Truck tents will fit on trucks with side railings up to
3" high.
Rollbars: Tents usually won't fit with roll bars or any accessory
that interferes with the sides of the bed.
Tonneau Covers: Solid covers won't work with a truck tent unless you
remove them. A truck tent can work with a soft tonneau cover if it can roll back and
if it doesn't cover the top sides of the
bed.
Bed Liner: Yes, truck tents work with bed liners.
Can you drive with a truck tent set up? Not on public roads.
(maybe a little around camp-5 mph max.)
Will I stay dry in the rain? Yes, our truck tents come with a
rain fly. You will be far drier than you ever were on the ground.
Do they come in different colors? Yes, CampRight tents are gray and
white while Sportz III tents are blue and
tan. Some models also come in camo designs.
