Free Shipping!  The real deal?

Free shipping seems to be a big deal with Internet stores and Internet customers.  What's the real deal?  We've been selling online since 1997 and here are some facts:

1.  70% of  Internet shoppers "motivated" by free shipping offers can't or don't get free shipping because a) their order doesn't qualify or b) they don't want to wait. This is a true study by "Internet Retailer" magazine.

2.  UPS, Fed Ex & trucking companies charge for every box they touch..  Products get shipped from manufacturer, to warehouse, to reseller, to customer.  Every time it goes in a truck someone pays $$.  Stores that offer free shipping, build the cost into the price of their products.  You think you're getting free shipping...actually its a trick, the shipping cost is included in the price of the product.  (Notice if you return the product they deduct the "free" outbound shipping charges from your refund!)

3.  How much would it cost you to get up from the computer and drive 10 miles to go shopping for a car top carrier or truck tent?  If you own a car: GA$, oil, tires, car depreciation & insurance.  And consider your time; driving, parking, walking in the slush, finding the stuff ("sorry sir, we're out of stock), waiting in line, buying the candy bar at the register etc.  A trip to the store really costs $25-$35 OR MORE.  More if your car gets dinged in the parking lot.
