Car Clip Strap Set For Vehicles Without Luggage Racks

The Car Clip Strap Set will attach any car top cargo bag to a vehicle without a luggage rack. The straps are made up of a StrapRight strap with a 1 inch wide, rubber coated steel hook on each end.  The car clip is about the size of the end of your finger.  With the Car Clip Strap Set, you can have the same cargo carrying options as an SUV with a big luggage rack.

Each Car Clip Strap requires a sturdy ledge inside of the car door opening for connection.  You can use a rain gutter, a metal ledge, a ledge under the weather molding, or the outside of the weather molding itself.  The strap tension from one car clip to the other over the top of the carrier secures the load and pulls the car clips tight against the ledge.  The door of the vehicle is shut over the clips and strapping system, securing them in place.  If it is possible, route the straps through both the front and the back vehicle doors.  It is recommended to position the straps at least 20" apart.

The PackRight Car Clip Strap Set will work on most vehicles.  They will not work on all vehicles.  We are sorry, but no list is available of all of the year, make, and model vehicles that will work with the Strap Set.  We must ask you to study this page and inspect your vehicle for potential mounting points.  You must decide and then test if the straps will work for you.  If you purchase the Car Clip Strap Set and it does not work on your vehicle, you have 30 days to return the product per our return policy.

If you have a minivan with a sliding door, make sure the straps do not interfere with the door in any way.  Many of our customers choose to use the PackRight Non-skid Roof Protection Pad in conjunction with the Strap Set. The pad is another safety measure to keep the carrier from shifting on the roof. It also protects the roof from any pointed edge items in the car top carrier.

If you purchase the Car Clip Strap Set for the vehicle that you are driving now, and later get a vehicle with a luggage rack-no problem. The Car Clips can be removed from the ends of the straps, so the straps can be used to attach the carrier to the luggage rack.  In other words, the Car Clip Straps can convert to the StrapRight Straps that come with every carrier. 

It is a great idea to test drive your loaded vehicle in your neighborhood before you hit the highway.  After driving a short distance on the open road, stop and check the straps again.  Plan for this extra time the first time that you use the straps.  After the first trip you will be a pro.
