The purchase area of our site is secure. This means that any information you send us is protected by encryption. It's easy to tell when you are protected by encryption -- the lock or key at the bottom of your browser changes color or is no longer broken. This varies depending on your browser.  We use Secure Socket Layers (SSL), the industry standard in transferring information to process your orders. The SSL encrypts, or translates, your order information into a highly indecipherable code, which is processed immediately.

  • Credit card fraud is virtually nonexistent on the Internet.   Since Lakeland Enterprises has been in business since 1997, there has never been a confirmed case of fraud reported by our customers as a result of a credit card purchase made with us.  If you experience fraudulent use of your credit card, notify your credit card company in accordance with its reporting rules and procedures. Most companies will either cover all of the fraudulent purchases or hold you liable for a maximum of $50.

  • Should your credit card company discover credit card fraud and hold you liable for some portion of the unauthorized charges, there is no need to worry. Provided the purchase was made through our secure server, LakelandGear.com will reimburse you for the maximum liability of $50. This is standard practice on the Internet, and just part of the reason why people prefer shopping with us.

Purchases

When you place an order, you give us your name, address, phone number or e-mail address plus credit card information. If you create a Personal Shopping Account with us, so that you may place orders more conveniently, you authorize us to store your name and shipping address(es), and optionally, credit card and billing information. We require your phone number to call if we have any questions about your order. UPS and FedEx require your address and phone number for shipping purposes only.

Catalog requests

We need your name and address in order to mail you a catalog. We also require a phone or e-mail contact, in case the address is wrong.

Online services

Several of our optional services involve storing personal information — your Personal Shopping Account. This is for your convenience only. The information is not used for any other purpose.

E-mail newsletters

We need your e-mail address. It will never be shared with or sold to anyone. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time. Your email is used primarily for delivery confirmation services.

We do not rent or sell any information about our customers to outside parties.
